Posted in: Announcements, Conversations and Connections: Pegasus Pathways

Fall is nearly here, as are the fall’s Class of 1978 schedule of events! We hope you will be able to attend one or more of our Pegasus Pathways for Conversations and Connection. (Zoom links will be emailed to all classmates who regularly receive official Class of 1978 email communications, a few days before each event.)

GET ORGANIZED! ESTATE PLANNING 101
Tuesday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. EST (on Zoom)
Be kind to yourself and your loved ones and put your financial papers in order. This nuts-and-bolts session will help you with your personal road map for important papers and planning your estate now (in retirement or pre-retirement). We will also cover what paperwork is necessary – and what one might expect – when passing assets upon death. If one parent, your spouse or significant other handled all the family finances, or if you do, you may be surprised what you don’t know! The session will be led by Karen Unger ’78, a former private banker and founder of Administrative Concierge LLC  that assists senior citizens and their families to handle their paperwork, and Tiana Gianopulos ’83, an attorney and adjunct faculty member at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she teaches Trusts and Estates.

MHC AT “THE OUTSIDERS”
Sunday, November 17 in New York City (in person)
Did you get tickets through the Alumnae Association for the MHC matinee performance of “The Outsiders” at the Jacobs Theatre in New York City? If so, let us know and we can plan a mini get-together for classmates before the 3:00 p.m. performance.Adapted from S.E. Hinton’s groundbreaking novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s film, “The Outsiders” is a story of self-discovery as teens navigate bonds of family and friendship, belonging and acceptance. Immediately after the show, President Danielle R. Holley will host a talkback with co-producer Debra Martin Chase ’77, Tony Award–winning Mount Holyoke alum and former Trustee, as well as members of “The Outsiders’” creative team.

THE 2024 COMMON READ: “I NEVER THOUGHT OF IT THAT WAY”
Thursday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. EST (on Zoom)
Mount Holyoke College’s 2024 Common Read is “I Never Thought of It That Way,” a timely personal guide to the front lines of a crisis that threatens America — broken conversations among confounded people. Author and journalist Mónica Guzmán wrote the book after seeing how politics can divide a nation. Guzmán set out to discover what blinds voters to other perspectives and found that curiosity is an underused tool. Beryl Schwartz Steinbach ’78 will lead us in a discussion of this timely book.

HOLIDAY VESPERS IN SOUTH HADLEY
Sunday, December 8 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (in person)
Holiday Vespers is a long-standing popular tradition of the College, during which the community comes together to celebrate light and togetherness on a dark and cold December night. If you are interested in attending either performance, be sure to let us know and we will plan a reception between the two performances for our classmates to lift a glass of holiday cheer.

Do you have suggestions for other events, either Zoom or in-person? Please email ksharkey1@yahoo.com or just reply to this email with your idea. You may also be hearing from classmates by email or phone with survey questions or about our 50threunion. Please respond! We would love to hear from you.
